Kindness will save the world

Hi friends,

I have tried so very very hard to stay silent in the midst of all that has gone on. Between Black Lives Matter, The rioting, Police Brutality, Police Abuse, and now Election Rioting. I have never in my life thought I was privileged because of my skin color. I honestly have always hated the word “ privileged.” I don’t like to think of myself and better than anyone else, to be honest half the time I feel like I am so below everyone else that I would look like a tiny ant to them. I have so many opinions and views on many many things. I have always been the person that did not want to hate anyone. I have always been the person that was kind to everyone I met, or at least I tried to be. I’m sure there are people out there that I have hurt or offended to and to that I apologize. However, as I was talking with Sam tonight I realized that I am privileged.... and that’s not something I say lightly because I hate admitting that. I hate admitting that people of color are a minority. I hate admitting that there are people out there that make other supporters of Trump, Biden, Black Lives Matter, Law Enforcement, or any other organization for that matter look like jerks and assholes because of THEIR actions. You notice how I said THIER, not the whole organization... ONE PERSON. ONE COP. ONE BLACK MAN. ONE POLITICIAN. ONE ANYTHING. ONE PERSON SHOULD NOT DETERMINE HOW THE OTHERS ARE SEE AND TREATED. There is SO MUCH HATE in this world. There is so much contention and anxiety and fear. THIS NEEDS TO STOP. WE NEED TO STOP. WE NEED TO BE BETTER. WE NEED TO BE KIND. Everyone deserves to feel safe walking down the street. Everyone needs to feel safe in any environment they are in. Everyone should be able to feel safe around Law Enforcement. I have many officers who I love dearly and who I worry about on a daily basis. These men and woman risk their lives to keep us safe, and before you say, “ Well Miranda... if they really wanted to keep us safe.... why would they let bad people be in Law Enforcement?” and that is a good question, my answer? No matter what profession someone is in there will be a bad power hungry person. There are bad doctors, nurses, CEOS, McDonald’s workers, etc. There will always be bad corrupt people in any job... BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN EVERY SINGLE OTHER WORKER IS BAD. I hate that. Honestly it’s one of my biggest pet peeves putting all people associated with a group in one lump sum because of one person. It’s so hard to let things go when I get attacked personally for commenting on a friends post of her husband (who is an officer) saying that “I’m supporting her”. It’s hard to be called a white supremist because of my skin color. It’s hard to be called a horrible person because I support law enforcement, I support trump and I support the right to bear arms. People need to wake up and realize that the only way things can get fixed is if we stop hating people for who they are. Stop hating people for being LGBTQI+. Stop hating people of color. Stop hating people because of the way they choose to worship. Stop hating people for the way they choose to live their lives. STOP HATING. We need to be kind. We need to stop trying to fix hate with more hate. There will always be corrupt people, and unfortunately we live in a world where things aren’t always fair. WE NEED TO WAKE UP, and check ourselves. We need to realize that life is sometimes harder for others because of who they are. We need to stand up. We need to bring peace. We need to change. I’m not saying go out and burn down the White House. I’m not saying go out and burn the American flag or light a cop car on fire. Because that is not right. And I will never believe that is right. We may not be able to change how the world is,  but we can change how we treat people. We can change how we speak about men and woman of color. We can train our law enforcement better and make sure they are there for the right reasons not the wrong reasons. We can start by making small changes in our homes. We can start by teaching our children to love others despite their differences. We can pray for the hearts of those who have so much hatred to be softened. We can bring god back into America. We can be better. I can be better. You can be better. I can realize that I am blessed to be who I am. I can realize that I am privileged because of my skin color. But just because I am white doesn’t make me better than someone that is not (and I have never thought that way) Everyone needs to stop being children and act like the adults we are and stop throwing fits when things don’t go our way. Was I unhappy about the election results... yes, but that doesn’t mean I am going to throw a huge fit about it and ruin someone else’s property and make people feel unsafe. We need to stand together, we can make America great, we can make a change, and we don’t have to be huge jerks about it to do it.

I will get off my soap box.

Moral of the story: Kindness can save the world.

Love you for always,
